Sub-Lieutenant Reece J McCarthy shares with the Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 his experience of being Neuro-Distinct while serving as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy. Reece has a diagnosis of ADHD.

My neurodiversity 'superpower' is the ability to hyperfocus on tasks and areas that pique my interest, which enables me to multi-task and have a higher workload/rate compared to my peers as well as the skill to absorb large quantities of information, this benefits me within current career aspirations within the RN.

Quite ironically the opposite of my neurodiversity ‘superpower’ means I find it difficult to have the ability to focus on tasks and areas that aren’t of interest to me, which means leaving it to the last minute providing a release of adrenaline enabling me to complete what’s required albeit occasionally after the deadline.
